What you can do at Casa Amsicora – Samugheo (OR)

A space to use to run a course, develop a creative project, organize a meeting, or share an experience.

Casa Amsicora welcomes proposals from individuals, associations, professionals, and groups interested in organizing initiatives in the heart of Samugheo. It was conceived as a place of memory and knowledge, but its vocation is also to become a space open to new activities. The house's spaces, the internal garden, the loggia with oven, and the rooms can be used for various initiatives, all sharing the common goal of creating opportunities for meeting, learning, and sharing.

The house is available to anyone wishing to organize a specific activity, providing space, equipment, and, where possible, connections with local experts.

Each use is agreed upon in advance through a fee-based agreement, defined together based on the type of initiative, its duration, the space required, and the services requested. This way, each project can find a suitable solution, with clear terms for both parties.

Courses and workshops

Casa Amsicora is a space suited to those who wish to impart knowledge, teach a technique, or share a practical experience. The spaces and equipment available allow for courses and workshops dedicated to artisanal activities, traditional crafts, and creative practices.

The presence of the ancient loom and the rooms dedicated to bread making, wine making, and cheese making offer a unique context for activities related to material culture and local knowledge. The loggia with its oven and the other spaces of the house can become places for work and experimentation.

The course organizer and leader independently manages the curriculum, participant registration, and course fees. Casa Amsicora provides the space according to the agreed-upon terms.

For activities involving the traditions of Samugheo and Barigadu, it's possible to consider involving artisans, producers, and people who preserve specific local skills. This is an opportunity to build experiences that connect those who teach, those who learn, and those who practice this knowledge daily.

Residencies and creative work

Some projects require time, tranquility, and concentration. Casa Amsicora can offer a secluded environment to writers, artists, researchers, designers, and professionals who wish to temporarily escape their usual routines to focus on their work.

The size of the house, the presence of the internal garden, and the atmosphere of the historic center foster a feeling of greater contemplation. A place in which to read, write, plan, study, experiment, or develop an idea.

Residencies can be organized for varying periods, even relatively long ones, depending on the project's needs. They can also be linked to the achievement of a concrete result: research, a work, a publication, a workshop, a public meeting, or a final event.

The goal is to offer a space where individual work can, when appropriate, also transform into an opportunity for connecting with the local community.

Events, meetings and productions

The house's character and the variety of its spaces make it suitable for hosting small events and cultural initiatives. Presentations, conversations, workshops, themed meetings, social gatherings, and community activities can find an original setting in the internal garden and museum rooms.

The spaces can also be used for photographic and video productions, editorial services, documentaries, and multimedia projects that require an authentic environment, characterized by traditional architecture and objects linked to Sardinian domestic culture.

The possibility of using different spaces allows us to imagine complex initiatives, in which moments of work, exhibition, meeting and socializing alternate within the same structure.

Each proposal is evaluated based on the characteristics of the activity, the number of participants, technical requirements, and compatibility with available spaces.

Accommodation and hospitality

For some events, it may be beneficial to also consider staying at Casa Amsicora. Accommodation can be arranged along with the use of the spaces, depending on availability and the nature of the event.

This solution can be particularly interesting for those organizing a multi-day workshop, a creative residency, a training activity, or a meeting involving people from other locations.

The opportunity to experience the house even outside of the hours dedicated to activities allows you to prolong the experience and better connect with the place and the territory.

A different project? Let's talk about it.

Casa Amsicora's potential uses aren't limited to the options described. Each project has its own unique characteristics and can suggest new ways of collaborating.

If you're an individual, an association, a craftsman, a professional, or a group with an idea to bring to life, tell us about it. Together, we'll evaluate whether the proposal is compatible with your home, which spaces can be used, and how to organize the initiative.

We're not necessarily looking for ready-made events. We're also interested in ideas to develop, collaborations to build, and experiences that connect people, expertise, and the local area.

Casa Amsicora offers its spaces and its history. The project, the people, and the activities take shape through encounters.
